Dave Chappelle sat down with CNN’s Van Jones and addressed his comments about wanting to give President Donald Trump a chance.
Chappelle made those remarks when he hosted SNL following the 2016 election, saying, “It made me feel proud to be an American and it made me very happy about the prospects of our country. So, in that spirit, I’m wishing Donald Trump luck. And I’m going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too.”
Almost two years later, Chappelle now says, “The rhetoric of his presidency is repugnant. I just don’t like the way he talks… We’re living in a time where there’s gotta be a little more cultural sensitivity.”
He talked about how he personally tries to listen to what other people have to say, while Trump is busy “speaking to a very small choir.”
The full interview airs on The Van Jones Show tonight at 7 pm ET. Watch the clip above, via CNN.
